Drop in and talk
Browse live rooms by language, level and topic, or open your own in seconds. Voice first, with chat on the side.
TalkYouApp is a free alternative to Free4Talk: open a live voice room in your browser, pick a level from A1 to C2 and start talking with real people. It adds what a drop-in room alone cannot give you: language groups with meetups, friends and calls, YouTube watched together, and rooms that are moderated by name.
If you came here looking for a drop-in voice room that costs nothing, you are in the right place. TalkYouApp keeps that simple idea, then fixes the part that usually goes wrong: the people you enjoyed talking to disappear when the room closes. Groups, meetups, friends and streaks are there so your practice has somewhere to continue tomorrow. TalkYouApp is independent and not affiliated with Free4Talk.
An account is required before joining any live room, including from a direct room link.

Follow them, message or call them, and bring your regulars into a group with its own meetups.
Everyone signs in, so a block, a report or a ban follows an account instead of a throwaway session.
Ask around and the list is short. It has to be free and open in a browser. There have to be people in it. It should be easy to find a room at your level instead of landing in a conversation you cannot follow. It should be calm enough to speak badly in without someone spoiling it. And the good conversations should lead somewhere.
That last one is where most drop-in sites stop. You have a great hour with three strangers, the room closes, and next week you start again from zero. TalkYouApp is built around fixing exactly that.
Everything in this table is part of the free account. Plus, at $5.99 a month, adds Studio voice, premium room looks and two streak shields.
| What you get | How it works |
|---|---|
| Live voice rooms | Open or join in seconds, in 73 languages, labeled A1 to C2 or Mixed |
| Room chat | Text, GIFs, reactions and a private reply to one person, beside the voice |
| Language groups | Up to 250 members, their own chat, admins who approve people |
| Meetups | Talk now, whenever people are free, or at a scheduled time, in a members-only room |
| YouTube together | Share a video the whole room watches in sync, then shadow a line from it |
| Friends, messages and calls | Follow people, message them, call one-to-one |
| Daily streak | Every day you spend time in a room, with a forest that grows |
| Safer rooms | Women-only or men-only, friends-only, password, plus block and report |
A room closes shortly after the last person leaves; that part is the same everywhere. What changes here is what happens next. Follow the two people you enjoyed talking with and they are a message away. Put your regulars in a language group and the conversation continues in text between calls. When the group wants to speak, a meetup opens a members-only voice room now, whenever people are free, or at a time everyone sees in their own time zone.
This is how a week of practice starts to look like a habit instead of a lottery: the same faces, a time you both know, and a streak that quietly reminds you.
Every room has an owner, and owners can appoint co-owners and room moderators. They can mute someone, stop them typing in the chat, turn off their camera or remove them, without waiting for anyone. Reports about people, rooms and messages reach TalkYouApp moderators, who can warn, mute, temporarily ban or permanently ban an account, with the reason recorded.
Because nobody joins as a guest, those decisions mean something: a ban is a ban, not a refreshed page. Rooms can also be limited to women or to men, the check runs before anyone enters, and nothing said in a room is ever recorded. The minimum age is 13.
Make a free account, set your level and open a room with a topic that gives people an easy first question. Then bring the people you already practice with: your room keeps one share link for as long as it is open, and a language group gives your regulars a home and a meetup time.
One honest note about timing. English rooms here are liveliest late in the evening across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. If you arrive at a quiet hour, open a room with a clear title so people can find it in the lobby, or schedule a meetup so everyone knows when to come back.
