Who we are
TalkYouApp is a voice-first language learning platform available at talkyouapp.com. The service is operated for learners who want live speaking practice, interactive English practice chat, notes, messaging, and personal progress history.
For privacy questions, requests, or safety concerns, contact us at [email protected].
Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly, information generated when you use the service, and limited information from trusted services you choose to connect.
- Account data: name, username, email address, profile image, password status, account verification state, session state, and security events.
- Profile and community data: bio, language preferences, CEFR level signals, avatar, room ownership, friends, follows, blocks, mutes, reports, and privacy settings.
- Room and call data: room metadata, participant lists, live presence, speaking state, connection events, messages, moderation actions, and direct-call metadata.
- Notebook and learning data: notes, vocabulary, translations, review status, shared note permissions, streaks, practice history, and progress signals.
- Practice chat data: voice or text inputs, generated responses, session timestamps, duration, usage minutes, and safety metadata.
- Device and technical data: IP address, approximate region, browser, device type, language, diagnostics, logs, cookies, and security identifiers.
- Billing data: plan, subscription status, checkout events, invoices, and payment status. Payment card details are handled by payment providers, not stored directly by TalkYouApp.
Google sign-in and Google user data
If you choose Google sign-in, Google sends us the identity information needed to verify that you control the Google account and to connect it to your TalkYouApp account.
We use Google user data only for authentication, account linking, fraud prevention, support, and account security. We do not sell Google user data, use it for unrelated advertising, or request access to Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Contacts, or other Google Workspace data unless a future feature clearly asks for that permission and you consent.
- Typical Google sign-in data includes your Google account id, verified email address, name, and profile picture.
- If the same email was already used for a TalkYouApp password account, Google sign-in may link to that existing account after Google verifies the email.
- You can use Google sign-in without setting a TalkYouApp password. If you later set one, the password is stored as a one-way hash.
How we use information
We use information to operate the app, keep accounts secure, provide learning features, process subscriptions, enforce rules, prevent abuse, and improve reliability.
- Authenticate users and maintain secure sessions.
- Create and join rooms, direct calls, and learning workflows.
- Provide interactive practice chat responses, usage limits, and standard personal progress history.
- Deliver messages, shared notes, notifications, read receipts, and friend activity.
- Detect spam, abusive behavior, unsafe media, account compromise, and policy violations.
- Respond to support, moderation, billing, account, and legal requests.
- Measure product health, fix bugs, and improve performance.
Voice rooms, direct calls, and practice chat
TalkYouApp is voice-first, so microphone access and live audio routing are core product functions. Live rooms and direct calls transmit audio to the room or call participants through real-time voice infrastructure.
Practice chat sessions may process your speech or text during the conversation so the feature can respond, apply usage limits, and maintain safety controls. Practice chat is a language practice tool and may be restricted for safety, abuse prevention, and service reliability.
- Other room or call participants can hear what you say while your microphone is live.
- Room chat, direct messages, notes, and shared notes may be stored so the product can show history and sync across devices.
- Practice chat history is limited to standard product history and usage records.
- Do not share sensitive personal, medical, financial, or legal information in rooms, calls, messages, notes, or practice chat sessions.
Retention and deletion
We keep data for as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and maintain security. Retention periods vary by data type and product context.
- You can delete or update many items directly in the product, including profile fields, notes, messages where supported, privacy settings, and room settings.
- Some records may remain in backups, audit logs, billing systems, abuse-prevention systems, or legal records for a limited period.
- You can request account deletion or data access by contacting [email protected] from the email associated with your account.
Security
We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect accounts and user data. These include secure authentication flows, password hashing, CSRF protection, session controls, access controls, moderation tools, and monitoring.
No internet service can guarantee perfect security. You are responsible for keeping your login methods secure and notifying us if you suspect unauthorized access.
International processing
TalkYouApp is available globally. Your information may be processed in countries where we, our infrastructure providers, or service providers operate. Public product copy states that TalkYouApp uses EU infrastructure for operations.
When information is processed across borders, we rely on appropriate safeguards, contractual commitments, provider security controls, and applicable legal mechanisms.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal data. You may also have the right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
- Use Settings to control profile visibility, who can message you, who can call you, room invites, group invites, online status, last seen, password, two-factor setup, and active sessions.
- Use in-product tools to block, mute, unmute, report, unshare, delete, or leave spaces where supported.
- Contact [email protected] for account-level requests that are not available in the product.
Children and age limits
TalkYouApp is not designed for children under 13 and should not be used by anyone who cannot legally consent to online services in their location without appropriate permission. If you believe a child has provided personal data without appropriate permission, contact us so we can review and act.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as TalkYouApp changes or as legal, security, or operational requirements evolve. We will update the date above and, when changes are material, provide a reasonable notice or consent flow where required.
