Why it's free
The only way to get better at speaking is to speak a lot, and a paywall in front of the room would stop exactly the people who need it most. So TalkYouApp makes money the way many games do: some people pay for extras, like a cleaner microphone or rooms that look nice. Nobody pays for a seat or a turn to speak.
We don't sell your data, and what you say in a room is never used for advertising. Conversations aren't recorded at all.
What Plus adds, and what it doesn't
Plus is $5.99 a month, or $5.99 once for 30 days. It adds Studio voice, which removes background sound like a fan or street traffic from your microphone on devices that can run it. It also gives you every premium room appearance, a Plus avatar ring and badge, your camera in rooms from the first day, and two streak shields per subscription month, each covering a day you miss.
Paying doesn't give you priority to speak, and no room is closed to free members. Inside a room, a free member and a Plus member have exactly the same rights.
The one thing you do need: a free account
Rooms need an account so that everyone in them is accountable. It takes about a minute with email or Google. Google sign-in only shares your basic profile, meaning your name, email address and profile picture, and never your Gmail, Drive, Calendar or Contacts.
Free doesn't mean someone is always online, either. English rooms are busiest late in the evening across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. If the lobby is quiet, open a room with a clear topic or plan a meetup with your group.
